PROJECT PROPOSAL FOR YWAM MALAYBALAY

Introduction

Since February of 2005, the month our YWAM leaders released us to pioneer, we observed a city with many young people whose lives are submerged by passivity. We saw internet cafes packed with kids involved in online internet games.

On the outside, this seems harmless but looking behind the façade you will see young lives ruined by laziness and irresponsibility. Students escaped classes just to visit these sites and video games in which the devil uses to steal their future.

We have observed that there is a lack of corporate effort within the Body of Christ in Malaybalay City to reach out to this generation of online gamers. There are a few churches who are actively involved in campus ministries. However, in-school youth are not the only kids to be reach. There are hundreds even thousands of out-of-school-youth involved in drugs, gang war, pornography and other criminal activity; just hanging out jobless and no dreams/goals for their future.

A corporate and unified effort needs to be achieved in order to bring these young people to Christ.

As YWAM Malaybalay leaders we strongly believe we are called to be in unity with the Body of Christ in this City and to partner with them in winning, discipling and igniting this younger generation for Jesus Christ.

We would like to express our deep appreciation for trusting us in this endeavor of presenting the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to the lost particularly the youth in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, Philippines.

OUR OBJECTIVES

  1. Partnering with Pastors and local church youth

The youth center will be open to other church youth group for their programs. In that way they can invite their unsaved friends to join their activity and not cause their friends to feel uncomfortable that they would go to a church.

With the existing partnership with the local church youth, we will schedule a regular meeting with the youth pastor for prayer, planning and making strategies.

  1. Partnering with secular youth organizations

The youth center will be available as a meeting place for youth clubs and other youth organizations. In that way we can connect and build relationship with them for future activities, and invite them to join our activities as a door to share the Gospel with them and their Leaders.

    • Cross Cultural Mission Seminar - This a three day missions awareness of the cultures and spiritual needs of people beyond the borders of Philippines.

    C) Youth Mobilization

We are presently mobilizing young people in reaching others and doing evangelism.

In relation to the activities and programs being set up, we are mentoring them by providing opportunities for them to participate and help lead such as:

    1. Open air evangelism with creative arts and testimonies

    2. Youth Jamming - a mini concert aimed to invite unsaved friends to hear the message of hope.

In view of the training program and various activities that will take place in the Youth Center, the following equipments are needed:

    2. Overhead projector

    3. Microphones and sound system

    4. Plastic chairs and tables

    5. Telephone

    6. Computer

    7. Musical instruments

    8. White board

    9. Camera

    STAFFING / MAN POWER

Any program needs people to accomplish the set goals. In our case, some of the said programs and activities are on the go.

Where do we get people to work with us in these endeavor?

The Mindanao Leadership Team of YWAM assist us by sending staff teams from other bases. Youth from different churches that we disciple through the training will volunteer to help us in making plans and realizing it.

We also partner with different evangelical churches who are supportive of the programs. Since YWAM is not a church but a para-church organization, new converts are discipled and ushered into the existing churches. With this regard we are not a threat to the churches of proselytizing but a help to them.

The Youth Center is in need of a few more permanent staff who would take responsibility in organizing some of the training and activities and initiate leading their own programs.
